If you are reading this, you want to be more productive and get more work done in less time. Everyone in this world has 24 hours in a day and most of us work for 8-10 hours every day.
Probably the best quality the most successful people possess is their ability to get more work done in their 8-10 hours of the workday.
But what do they do? And is it that tough?
Here are the 5 steps that will help you in being more organised and getting more work done every day.
Make a list of everything you want to do in a day.
A to-do list is one of the most underrated work tools. Creating a list of what we need to do in a day is the most crucial thing to get more work done.
You can create a list on a professional to-do app, simply in a notepad, sticky note, whiteboard, or a paper. It must be in front of you to read anytime.
It not only helps us in being focused but also motivates us to get everything done in the given time frame.
That brings us to our next point.
Assign a time limit for each task
To make sure that you get everything done in your 8 to 9 hours time frame, you must assign a time limit for each task. When assigning a time limit, think about the time a task should ideally take and add 10 minutes to it.
This will help you in staying focused on getting it done and you will feel great when you start completing tasks in that timeframe.
Complete a task in the time frame before moving to the next.
Do not jump tasks Instead set priorities of your tasks to make sure you get the high priority tasks done first followed by lower priority tasks. Take the done task off the list, nothing feels better than that. If gives immense pleasure when you get good work done in your set time. It will make you feel better and motivate you to get your next task done.
Don’t deviate from the list
Some of us have a lot of ad hoc work which we are not aware of ahead of time. That’s a very tricky situation as it might deviate you from the tasks that you want to complete in that day. Just like getting the work done motivates you, missing your timelines or pending tasks wear off your energy.
If you anticipate Adhoc tasks, it’s always better to dedicate an hour for it in your to-do list every day.
Create the list ahead of time and keep a check on yourself
Creating a list of tasks for the next day tonight is always great as that will help you spend your most productive time i.e. mornings on most important, high priority tasks.
Also, keep checking yourself every 15 mins or so, to make sure you are on your tasks. In the present time, a quick scroll through Facebook or Instagram could lead you to waste hours of your precious workday.
